The Range Rover Evoque – sometimes referred to as just Evoque – is a compact luxury SUV model that Range Rover first put on the market in 2012. The British manufacturer introduced the car’s concept four years prior at the 2008 North America American International Auto Show.

While Land Rover did not compromise on the SUV’s off-road capabilities, they designed the Range Rover Evoque as a luxury vehicle for urban environments.

Unfortunately, the two-door SUV was not well-received. Compared to its competitors, its specifications did not measure up in terms of engine power or efficiency. However, drivers lauded the vehicle for its sleek design and accessible price tag, which at the time, cost around $40,000.

In recent years, Range Rover has made notable upgrades to this mid-priced luxury vehicle that have made it quite popular among SUV enthusiasts. The latest iterations offer a sleeker exterior, upgraded tech specifications, and a more powerful engine than their predecessors.

The 2023 Ranger Rover Revoque also makes a valiant effort at upstaging its closest competitors. While it doesn’t offer the cargo capacity of rival models like the Volvo XC40 or the Mercedes-Benz GLB-class, it has a unique cabin and sharp exterior design unlike other luxury SUV’s in its class. Read on for comprehensive coverage of the 2023 Range Rover Evoque.

2023 Updates

The 2023 Range Rover Evoque has come a long way since first being introduced a decade ago. Offered in five different models, this luxury SUV has undergone notable upgrades.

The 2023 line of the Range Rover Evoque has four other models besides the basic entrant in the class: the Range Rover Evoque S, R-Dynamic S, R-Dynamic SE, and R-Dynamic-HST, which are offered in three and five-door options. The price tag for these models ranges from $47,775 – $56,475.

Details

The entry-level Range Rover Evoque features a 246 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine. As a standard feature, the car offers nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive and can achieve zero-to-60 in 7.1 seconds.

However, the Range Rover HST-R-Dynamic – the most expensive end of the spectrum– benefits from the P300 powertrain, which gives it added power. The HST-R Dynamic has 50 more horsepower and a 58-volt hybrid system that shave .5 seconds off of its acceleration time.

Reviews of the 2023 class praise the enjoyable driving experience offered by this luxury SUV. Kelly Blue Book said it offered a “smooth, quiet, and comfortable ride.

And while the 2023 Range Rover Evoque was designed with urban conditions in mind, it is still an SUV and can sustain some mileage on the terrain without too much wear and tear.

According to Engadget, the Evoque can handle travel over small rivers and large rocks, though the writer noted that they only personally tested the vehicle in six inches of water (instead of the 23.6 inches Range Rover claims it can handle).

This same review praises the car’s Terrain Response System 2 for automatically detecting different types of terrain, without manual intervention. Meanwhile, Motor Trend says the Evoque can clear 2 inches of water, so you will have to test things for yourself.

The base model is 172.1 in length, and 64.9 inches in height, and has a ground clearance of 8.1 inches. It also comes with a 9-speed shiftable automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

The Evoque also boasts a curb weight of 4,075 pounds, with the gross weight topping out at 5,400 pounds. It has a maximum towage capacity of 3,968 pounds.

Fuel Economy

The Range Rover Evoque has average fuel economy for a luxury SVU in its field. According to the BPA, this vehicle averages 24 miles per gallon, and around 20 miles per gallon when driven in the city. The Evoque reaches peak fuel efficiency on the highway, where it can reach a rate of 27 miles per gallon.

Still, these figures fall far behind similarly priced mid-range luxury cars. And it is not even touching the most fuel-efficient 2023 Kia Sportage, which boasts 43 miles per gallon.

For the price, there are more economical compact SUVs on the market, though they lack the Range Rover Evoque’s bold lines and luxurious interior feel.

Interior/Exterior

The Range Rover Evoque’s strongest appeal lies in this model’s aesthetic. Reviews of the Range Rover 2023 uniformly praise its striking design, both when it comes to the vehicle’s exterior design and the shaping and detail of the interior cabin. The 2023 release follows in its predecessor’s footsteps, as its exterior rivals only the chic, modern interior and exterior.

And while its title as the smallest Ranger Rover SUV means that the interior is not quite as roomy as you would like, the vehicle’s aesthetic more than makes up for it. All models default to its signature leather seating, however, you can opt for cloth upholstery to dress up the dashboard, door panels, and seats.

The 2023 Evoque also offers storage space for your essentials, such as your phone, water bottle, and other electronics. It also boasts 50 cubic feet of cargo space and 40/20/20 foldable seating.

Other features include keyless ignition, electric power steering, dual vanity mirrors, rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control.

All models also come with all-season tires, alloy wheels, and a temporary spare tire.

Connectivity

If you are looking for a car that offers a modest array of modern technology, then the 2023 Range Rover Evoque offers some promising upgrades. Each model comes with standard features like a Pivi Pro system with 10-inch infotainment screens, a sound system, a remote, and a smartphone pack (Apple and Android).

All models also come equipped with six speakers, AM/FM radio, and satellite radio. They also come with hands-free Bluetooth, USB inputs, and wireless charging for your mobile devices. These features ensure that you and your passengers can access all of your favorite apps during drives no matter where you’re going or how long you’re traveling.

There are also built-in navigational tools. For an extra price, you can purchase additional tech upgrades like in-car wifi, enhanced entertainment systems, and more.

Safety Features

Of course, a car is only as valuable as its safety record. Fortunately, the 2023 Range Rover Evoque has been lauded as a safe car with adequate driver-assistance features.

As stated above all of the Evoque’s models come with rearview cameras and parking sensors on the front and back of the car. All models also come with anti-lock breaks, front impact airbags, side impact airbags, overhead airbags, stability control, and a security system. The car also comes equipped with child locks.

Speaking specifically about the security system, it is great at detecting unwanted drivers. Whenever it detects a key that was not issued by the car’s official manufacturers, the ignition disables device prevents the car from starting up.

At a time when car break-ins and theft on are the rise, these robust security features should help put your mind at ease. If you desire further customization or security, heads-up displays, rear-cross traffic alert, and an around view camera can be installed at additional cost.

Warranty

One sore spot of the Range Rover Evoque is its warranty, which pales in quality to its competitors. Both the basic and powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles. Therefore, some users have boasted that it may be more economical to lease this car, rather than buy it outright.

The Range Rover Evoque has been known to have some reliability issues about a year into the purchase. According to carparts.org, this SUV has only a 3.0 reliability score (out of 5.0).

Most owners have to have unscheduled repairs an average of .06 times a year. This same report states that the most common issue car owners face are electrical problems that affect the speedometer and may cause owners to exceed their desired speed. (Or, most importantly, the law’s desired speed.

By leasing, rather than buying outright, you will be able to trade it in for a newer model when the 2023 model starts giving you severe problems (as 12 % of users eventually face).

Add-Ons

Even though the Range Rover Evoque comes packed with goodies, Lane Rover offers many add-ons for your consideration.

Interior add-ons

For the right price, you can curate and customize your driving experience by adding features such as a Meridian surround sound system, premium lighting packages, in-car wifi, a garage door opener, and a cabin air purification system.

You can also purchase heated front seats, analog dials, premium carpets mats, electrically adjustable steering columns, and a keyless entry system, in addition to fabric, textile, and leather upgrade packs that can enhance the upholstery and decoration of your vehicle.

Exterior add-ons

Your 2023 Range Rover Evoque can be further enhanced with a 21″ Gloss Black (or Light Silver, Mid-Silver, or Dark Gray) finish, powered gesture taillights, and fog lamps. The Evoque can also be equipped with an around view camera and rear cross-traffic alert system.

The cost of these add-ons typically ranges between $0 – $1,060.
